In 960 Harald wanted to unify and strengthen his kingdom. He did this by converting his kingdom to Christianity. Some of his people where already Christian, this had occurred even before he was born, but he decided to convert the rest of his people to Christianity.
Harald became interested in Christianity and one day he decided to become a Christian. Once he decided this was baptized by a German priest named Poppo. He then changed all of his subjects to Christianity. From then on people stopped believing in Odin, Thor and the rest of the Norse gods and believed in God.
However some people believed in both Thor and God. This is evident because some Vikings wore necklaces with Thor's hammer and a Cross pendant on each necklace.
